Hi!

I'm Marissa Adams, author of historical romance and contemporary rom com (and hopefully one day fantasy and maybe sci-fi). 

I've made up stories since before I knew how to write my letters, as evidenced by the fact that one of my earliest stories is written down by my mom and various siblings. After that, I waffled around with various stories until in 2022 when I published my first book Wetherholt, an epistolary historical romance set in 1870. This was followed by a sequel Wondering, as well as two Christmas novellas.

Currently, I am writing a rom-com that will be released fall 2026, and will also be republishing one of the Christmas novellas in time for Christmas.

One of my favorite things about writing is creating the worlds the characters live in. I like imagining the houses, the streets, the clothes they wear, the food they eat. I also love creating the characters themselves, figuring out their strengths, flaws, quirks, humor.

Additionally, I've launched a book coaching business Novel in the Rough Story Coaching, helping clients polish their story into the novel it's meant to be.

I absolutely love helping sort through the tangles and plot holes, strengthen their character arcs, and overcome that detrimental fiend imposter syndrome. Every story has good things in it—sometimes they're just buried a little. It's my job to help the author dig out the good parts and shine them up!

Besides writing and story coaching, I enjoy taking morning walks, reading a variety of books, playing tabletop games, watching movies & TV shows, and snuggling with Ivy, the world's most adorable Havanese.
